U2 – Desire
“Desire” definitely marks one of the most prolific periods for 80s pop music, October 1988. U2 released “Rattle and Hum”, their sixth album, on October 10, 1988. Actually they released the first single, “Desire”, some weeks earlier. People had great expectations for this album. And it continued the pattern of the previous album, the super famous “The Joshua Tree”. With both albums U2 came closer and celebrated American music and artists. We can say that Rattle and Hum contains lots of quotes and dedications to famous American musicians.
We need to reserve a special mention for this song! In fact, after years of worldwide success, U2 reached number one in the UK charts with this song! They had never succeeded before! Not even with songs like “Pride“, “Where the streets have no name“, “I still haven’t found what I’m looking for” or “With or without you” – real masterpieces of the 80s!
Finally, we can really say that, looking at the video Desire starts with a guitar on top of a building and ends on top of the world!!!
#quotefromthe80s
Gonna go where the bright lights
And the big city meet
With a red guitar, on fire
