George Michael – One more try
“One more try” was released on April 11, 1988. It was the fifth (fourth in some countries) singles from the album “Faith”. It is still a wonderful song, and for years it was one of the songs that King George’s fans requested most in all concerts.
This song had great success, of course, but it could definitely have been even bigger! In fact, few radios loved to broadcast this song, and this was due primarily to a couple of reasons. It is a slow song, of course. A great, slow emotional song. And already in the 80s, radios reserved few slots for slow songs especially during daytime. But this song had also another peculiarity: this song is extremely long! And it’s difficult for a radio to put on air a six-minute song!!
Anyway, “One more try” probably marks the full maturity of this fantastic artist, this European King of Pop who really defined (with Wham! and than alone) many of the peculiarities of the 80s. And maybe it’s for those pculiarities that the 80s are still considered a king of golden age. At least, after 30 years, today we can very easily enjoy George Michael’s songs and fantastic videos!
