Bon Jovi – Bad medicine
“Bad medicine” and the whole album “New Jersey” have a peculiar story, of course. Bon Jovi released their fourth album on Sep 19, 1988, almost together with the first single, “Bad medicine”. Two years had passed since the release of the previous album. They had just ended the worldwide tour that brought the album all over the world. It was the “Slippery when wet tour”. Bon Jovi had really found worldwide success, so they could probably slow down and enjoy their fame.
But they really looked forward to demonstrate that their success was not just a matter of luck! When we talk about the success of “Slippery when wet”, we mean hits like “You give love a bad name“, “Livin’ on a prayer” and “Wanted dead or alive“.
So they immediately entered the studios again in order to create a double album! They actually did, but the final outcome did not satisfy the guys completely. So they decided to take some tracks off the album and release a standard album instead of a double one. And the album “New Jersey” started great, and entered the top ten the very day of its release! They had an enormous success again, and finally it went into history, as the first hard rock album with 5 singles in the top ten! And Bon Jovi competed alone, because the previous record belonged to … “Slippery when wet”!
I need a respirator 'cause I'm running out of breath
You're an all night generator wrapped in stockings and a dress
When you find your medicine you take what you can get
'Cause if there's something better baby well they hav'n't found it yet
